Flying Eagles AFCON Defeat: One Match Is Inadequate To Draw Conclusions On The Team - Says Ondo State FA Board Member
Akinkunle Bolarinwa
Board Member of the Ondo State Football Association, Doctor Babtunde Akinbinu has concluded that it is not wise to quickly judge or condemn the Flying Eagles of Nigeria over their loss to the Junior Taranga Lions of Senegal at the ongoing AFCON Under 20 tournament in Egypt.
Dr. Akinbinu who is popularly known as "Doctor Tee" noted that there were clear red flags from yesterday's game, however, one match is not enough to draw conclusions.
"We wait to see how things pan out because they still have 2 more games to prove it's worth".
Akinbinu who is also a certified sports physician says he is optimistic that the Flying Eagles can still qualify for the quarter finals even if they lose in their second game.
He stated further that this is not the swashbuckling Flying Eagles of the then 2015 that defeated everyone they faced.
"I'm afraid there might have been too much tinkering with team balance between winning the WAFU tournament and the AYC. That's my only fear".
