A strong member of the All Nigeria Players Union and sporting Director/CEO · Nnewi United football club, Chief Olisa Onochukwu says there is only one registered and recognised players union in Nigeria and that is the All Nigeria Players Union (ANPU).

Onochukwu told Apex media via phone that the ANPU players’ union became necessary in order to address some of the welfare issues affecting both retired and active players.

"It’s all about integrity and the development of our football. We’re not out to harass, witch hunt or antagonize anybody".

"All we are out to do is for the benefit of our members who have been complaining about the absence of a true union that can represent their interest".

He said he is aware of a rival group parading themselves as representatives of the players but in coming days those operating illegally on behalf of footballers will have themselves to blame.

"We’re not out for confrontations but what we’re doing is to fight for an improved welfare of our members and for the love we have for our country".

Olisa who is an ex-international footballer with playing experiences in Nigeria, Yugoslavia, China and Austria stated further that the All Nigeria Players Union has attributes that make it's group different from other players’ union in the country.

"The other groups have been there for more than three decades without anything to show for their existence, they are only interested in criticizing the NFF but they fail to tell Nigerians that they benefited from the same NFF they’re antagonizing".

"We are the only ones that have written letters to NFF, CAF and FIFA they replied us and told us we’re the apex players union in the country with the then NFF President congratulating".

States Football Associations Should Adopt the Ekiti FA Model - Dr. Babatunde 'Tee' Akinbinu

Akinkunle Bolarinwa  Executive Board Member of the Ondo State Football Association, Dr. Babatunde 'Tee' Akinbinu has advised State Football Associations Chairmen in Nigeria to borrow the template for football development exemplified by Ekiti State Football Association in the last three and half years. "The reason why Ekiti State FA works and looks so beautiful is because Mr Bayo Lanlege the Ekiti FA chairman threw his hat in the ring and is leading from the front on matters of football development in Ekiti State without any subvention funding from the Government of Ekiti State." The sagacious Sports Physician asserts that Nigeria needs pragmatic leadership to lead the new path for football development.  "It is a huge irony that I am in Ondo and he is in Ekiti, really. If we had 30 State FA Chairmen in Nigeria like Mr Lanlege of the Ekiti State FA, out of the 37 State FA Chairmen we have in Nigeria, we would NOT be talking about bad governance in football admini...
