Head Coach of the Under 15, National team (Future Eagles of Nigeria) Haruna Ilerika has stressed the need for the Nigeria Football Federation to focus more on the under 13/15 male teams.
Coach Ilerika who was recently redeployed back to the Future Eagles team after a stint with the Golden Eaglets, said the Under 13/15 teams have been in limbo for the past three years without any camping exercise or tournaments.
The Abuja based coach hinted that Future Eagles ought to have been in camp at least for more than a month ahead of the forthcoming Africa Youth Games in Congo Brazzaville.
"These lads must be in camp regularly because this is the formative age in football, it is not when we have competitions before we would start rushing them to camp for competition sake".
He said the objective of the Nigeria Football Federation and the technical crew of the team is to build a formidable youth football system with the Future Eagles project.
"Football development is the key, we must take youth football development serious just like the advanced countries and I am happy the NFF has embraced this culture but they have to do more to sustain it".
