"Nigeria is better, we are still young and need those experiences to improve our game".

Monteiro stated that he expected his team to score at least a goal against Nigeria but that didn't happen.

" We failed to score so we are disappointed to have conceded two goals.

"They gave their best in this tournament. We are delighted to be here".

He stated further that it was not easy for his team to have qualified for the AFCON U20 tournament.

"It's not always that Mozambique qualifies for the AFCON U20, so when you get that experience it's important for our country and our players so that they can have the experience to develop and build. their career.

Monteiro is confident that his team can make it to the next edition of AFCON U20 in 2025.

"We hope to be able to come back often and we can afford to do better than this occasion,” he said.

Senegal and Nigeria picked the two quarter finals tickets having ended group A with first and second on the log.
