We Have Many Developmental Programs But No Sponsor, Says National Swimming Coach

National swimming coach, Saheed Obadina has revealed that there are so many developmental programs on ground but no sponsorship.

"We have lots of developmental programs that needs sponsor on ground".

Obadina, who is now a retired civil servant blamed the inability of adequate sponsorship as the reason for the slow development of the aquatic sport in the county.

"The talents are there but everybody must support this sport because it is recreational by nature".

He said, lack of competitions militates against the full harnessing of raw talents, thereby leading to dire consequences at international tournaments.

"Lack of swimming competitions hampers Nigeria’s performance at int’l tournaments".

However, he acknowledged that there could w be a light at the end of the tunnel and while calling on stakeholders to complement efforts of the governments to develop sport at the grassroots.
