Why local football talents fail to reach their potential - Prince Fred Akhigbe

Akinkunle Bolarinwa

Italy based football agent, Prince Fred Akhigbe reveals numerous reasons why local talents in Nigeria never lived up to the hype.

Akhigbe who is an expert in the business of scouting and management of players is worried that the longevity of upcoming stars are diminishing at a worrisome rate.

"In general African players don’t play to their prime and this is a worrisome issue".

In a chat with Apexmedia2020.blogspot.com he attributed the cause of the problem to age falsification.

"Fake age declarations by these players and this is usually engineered by their agents just to meet up with foreign clubs requirements".

The boss of Fa_sportingmanagement buttressed that, despite the imposing performances of the various national teams at age-grade tournaments the longevity of an average player is usually cut short.

"They need to go back to school and get proper education so that they can decide their future, acquiring knowledge about the game can prolong their playing career".

He said it has become troubling that export of local talents so far have not borne fruit at senior level.

"Agents should apply due diligence and not cut corners, if we really want to have a formidable national team".

He hinted that his football agency is critically helping to correct the anomalies in players management.

"My agency is responsible and reputable and we also do sponsorship with professional clubs in Europe so we don't cut corners".

Edo Government Bails Bendel Insurance FC Out With A Rickety Bus. Bendel Insurance players and officials may soon be trekking to Training and  match venues if the issue of transportation is not sorted out before the start of next league stanza. The team's bus has been abandoned due to serious engine problems, however the state government just gave them another rickety bus from the government house and they are on their way to the match training and home games.  With danger locking around every road within the country, it is saddening seeing the rickety buses that some football teams acquired to ferry their players and officials to and fro match venues. Bendel Insurance is in dire need of a new team bus and the state government must act urgently. You will recall that the team has been suffering from the "smoke and move" bus that has recently packed up due to engine failure. The issue of good means of transportation has greatly affected the team's performances in the NPF
