Former D'tigers Coach, Anthony Nelson has called on the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) to build a formidable team around the local talents that represented the country at the just concluded FIBA World Cup Qualifiers in Angola.
Despite the shortcomings of the D'tigers team recently, Anthony Nelson believes the team's future is no longer in doubt.
Nelson outlined
the importance of having a viable league system for the discovery of budding local talents.
"We need to have a good league system and improve on it, there is no other way around it".
He stressed that the NBBF does not have to depend on foreign professionals any longer going by the outstanding performances of the local lads at FIBA World Cup Qualifiers.
He described the inability of the D'tigers to pick a world cup ticket as a temporary setback.
"The quest for the ticket is over; we can't continue to dwell on it; however , we can continue to rebuild".
