If We Build A Good League In Nigeria, European Countries Will Respect Us - Says Prince Akhigbe

F&A Sporting Management supremo, Prince Fred Akhigbe has said that Nigeria's domestic leagues needs more than sound bites to compete amongst the best in Africa.

"Passion is supreme that makes our European counterpart different from us in Africa and so there must be a pragmatic approach to develop the league and make it viable," Prince Fred Akhigbe stated.

"We need capacity building and credibility to rejig the domestic league, we can't continue to apply the same old tricks and expect different results.

The respected football manager opined that football reflects the socio-economic realities around it.

"Private investment will help the league a lot, see what Dozzy did with the 100 million partnership for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Super 4."

He summarised that the Nigerian league lost its allure partly because of lack of interest to develop the leagues holistically.

“Imagine Joe Udofia of Vandrezzer and Otunba Kunle Soname of Remo Stars pumping much money into their clubs, just like their businesses the league will not only be lucrative for Nigerian players but would also attract foreign players."

The Italy based players intermediary agreed that private football investors have what it takes to support a world class league system if given the chance.

“Private investors have what it takes to build the structure and the infrastructure for a world-class football nomenclature in Nigeria.

"The league can only thrive when built around the nation's ecosystem."

He concluded: "The domestic football leagues are struggling to deal with both a crippling economic recession and maladministration."

States Football Associations Should Adopt the Ekiti FA Model - Dr. Babatunde 'Tee' Akinbinu

Akinkunle Bolarinwa  Executive Board Member of the Ondo State Football Association, Dr. Babatunde 'Tee' Akinbinu has advised State Football Associations Chairmen in Nigeria to borrow the template for football development exemplified by Ekiti State Football Association in the last three and half years. "The reason why Ekiti State FA works and looks so beautiful is because Mr Bayo Lanlege the Ekiti FA chairman threw his hat in the ring and is leading from the front on matters of football development in Ekiti State without any subvention funding from the Government of Ekiti State." The sagacious Sports Physician asserts that Nigeria needs pragmatic leadership to lead the new path for football development.  "It is a huge irony that I am in Ondo and he is in Ekiti, really. If we had 30 State FA Chairmen in Nigeria like Mr Lanlege of the Ekiti State FA, out of the 37 State FA Chairmen we have in Nigeria, we would NOT be talking about bad governance in football admini...
