It Is Not Yet Uhuru For Edo State FA Election

Akinkunle Bolarinwa

Despite suffering an emergency postponement,
The crisis ridden election into the board of Edo State Football Association is not far from any danger.

The election which was originally slated for 3rd of March was curiously shifted to 31st of the same month due to alleged state government interference.

Almost all the state FA elections in the past four years were plagued with one crisis or the other and Edo state FA election is not an exemption.

An impeccable source who hinted Apexmedia2020.blogspot.com about the happenings in Edo state is convinced that due process would be applied if the FA Secretariat do the needful.

Our source agreed that there were irregularities in the state's football local council elections and the process has to start all over again.

"Nothing is actually wrong and we are only waiting for the day of election but the only area of concern is the local govt level they did earlier"

According to our source, the Edo Election is not far from attracting litigation upon litigation going by the numbers of petitions already on the table.

"Some of their members have written petition to the sports commission challenging the legitimacy of those picked at that level"

The State FA Scribe has been named as part of those fanning the furnace of fire regarding the Edo Election.

"Those complaining said the whole thing was done by the FA secretariat without carrying everybody along".

It is now obvious that there is going to be a little hiccups in repeating the process.

"They are likely going to repeat the process, make it open and give enough notice".

However stakeholders are anxiously waiting for a free and fair election to take place at the end of this month.

"We are waiting for them to come up with their next line of action" .

States Football Associations Should Adopt the Ekiti FA Model - Dr. Babatunde 'Tee' Akinbinu

Akinkunle Bolarinwa  Executive Board Member of the Ondo State Football Association, Dr. Babatunde 'Tee' Akinbinu has advised State Football Associations Chairmen in Nigeria to borrow the template for football development exemplified by Ekiti State Football Association in the last three and half years. "The reason why Ekiti State FA works and looks so beautiful is because Mr Bayo Lanlege the Ekiti FA chairman threw his hat in the ring and is leading from the front on matters of football development in Ekiti State without any subvention funding from the Government of Ekiti State." The sagacious Sports Physician asserts that Nigeria needs pragmatic leadership to lead the new path for football development.  "It is a huge irony that I am in Ondo and he is in Ekiti, really. If we had 30 State FA Chairmen in Nigeria like Mr Lanlege of the Ekiti State FA, out of the 37 State FA Chairmen we have in Nigeria, we would NOT be talking about bad governance in football admini...
