Nigeria football should not be allowed to die

I wish to share my opinion on the situation of our football in recent times. This has become necessary because many of us depend on the successes of football for survival. It may not totally be in monetary terms but when Nigeria football is progressing we are happy and happiness is a major ingredients to good health.Progress in our football is also very important for football business people and stakeholders like the journalists, coaches, agents, administrators, managers, media houses even players among others to improve their status and businesses.

The recent results of the Nigeria National teams have left so much to be desired. It is not just about the losses but the constitution of our officials and players. Can one explain this.

We played U20 and invited foreign based players

We played U23 against Guinea with entirely foreign based players yet failed to win

We played Nation cup qualifier against Guinea-Bissau with entirely Foreign based players( worth over 700million pounds combined) against a Guinea-Bissau team that is worth less than 10million pounds combined and still lost at home.

My questions.

Why are we playing the Nigeria professional league?

If our home based players cannot defeat Guinea or Guinea- Bissau at home then the League should be scrapped.

This is a huge shame and embarrassment to our league.Without sounding immodest,Enyimba,Rivers United,3SC or even Remo stars will not lose against Guinea or Guinea-Bissau at home.

In 1990 Westerhof took entirely home based players to the Nations cup and came back with a runners up medal.Late Keshi won the trophy in 2013 with the impact of the home boys.Enyeama Vincent went to the World cup and performed creditably well against England in 2002 as a home based goal keeper.I can go on and on not to forget that Nigeria won their first ever Nations cup with the home based players in 1980.Nothing is wrong with the invitation of the foreign based lads but must we invite them to play every match? Can't our home based handle countries like Guinea-Bissau? or Guinea U23.What really is the essence of the League? This is a very critical situation. The major and real stakeholders must not keep quiet. If Nigeria football must survive we must do the right thing.

On coach Passeiro, what was his antecedent before he was appointed? If we had to sack Rohr, removed Eguavoen and Amuneke, must we also bring in someone who is less competent? I need someone to furnish me with Passeiro score card as a coach.Even the appointment of our coaches to National teams are not done on merit. It is time for us to rise up and take back our football.
