Facts have emerged on the reasons why Olympic Eagles chose Abuja against the hitherto approval of Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
The first fact that was established is that the playing surface of the Lekan Salami stadium is not playable for international matches, the fact that was resonated by the IMC warning the Ibadan Soccer Lords, Shooting Stars and Oyo State Sports Council to put the pitch in order or the Club will be moved away to another venue
Secondly it was said that Lekan Salami Stadium is not television friendly and could cost the organisers a lot of money if it doesn't meet the required standard.
The third reason is purely political because the game could become a campaign tool for the Governor who could not manage the newly constructed pitch with a roughly Five Billion Naira(#5B).
Lastly the nation's league operators had already instructed clubs using the stadium as their own ground to find an alternative venue for their matches.
Nigeria’s U23 boys, Olympic Eagles will now host their Guinean counterparts at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Wednesday, 22nd March, in the final round of qualifiers for this year’s Africa U23 Cup of Nations.
The game was earlier scheduled to hold at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan the same day.
