of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) Sunday Adeleye has disclosed that an international athletics grand prix will make its debut in Nigeria.
He said arrangements have been concluded to host such big athletics meets in Nigeria.
"Have the garden City international grand pix, which will be coming up soon whereby we will have the licence to organise it properly.”
Adeleye stated that athletes can only participate if they have good performances at international athletics competitions.
“It is the mother of all grand Prix in Nigeria, because to qualify to be among contestants, you must be among the first ten in the world,” he explained.
He stated further that the grand Prix will open up the ecosystem for athletics in the country.
"The competition will support the Nigerian economy through sport tourism".
