You Are An Impostor, Ondo Football Stakeholders Blast Akingboju

Akinkunle Bolarinwa

The Ondo football stakeholders have discounted the statement made by one of the former board member of the Ondo State Football Association in the person of Henry Akingboju who went about blabing falsehood concerning the happenings in the state football fraternity.

Apexmedia2020.blogspot.com opened up on the trivius that has engulfed the Ondo State Football Association in recent times.

According to the stakeholders, Akingboju was never elected Vice Chairman of the Ondo State FA at any NFF-approved election but has always been surrogate to the current Chairman of the State Football association.

The group stated further that Henry Akingboju never withdrew for Dele Ajayi during the State FA Chairmanship election 2 years ago rather Otunba Ologbese did so at the election venue. Henry Akingboju contested the election and had only one vote, in which he voted for himself.

"It is possible that since Mr Akingboju, who is now retired from the Nigerian Police Force and possibly has a lot of idle time, feeds from Otunba's hands being the sole person person collecting for Football Security services money from the FA Chairman.

The group says Henry Akingboju has had zero impact in his immediate football constituency, where he is Irele Local Government Football Council chairman since his romance with Ondo State Football.

"The question should be: beyond all the tokenism in organising mushroom events at the state level despite collecting huge amounts from the NFF and affiliate clubs to the Ondo State Football Association, where is the data of the footballers, coaches and match officials being developed by the State FA under Mr Akingboju and Otunba Ajayi in the 14 years that he has been FA Chairman in Ondo State? How many football players from the 18 local governments of Ondo State have moved on from the hundreds of towns villages in Ondo State have been developed into footballers plying their trade in professional football leagues all over the world? Is it not simply Sunshine Stars of Akure, a State Government-run club, that Otunba can lay any claim to? How many Grade 1 or FIFA licenced referees has Otunba developed in 14 years?'

'How many NIS-certified Football Coaches? Akingboju claims there is a Real Madrid tournament in a district of Ondo State. Is that not ridiculous? Real Madrid is a global football institution, the most successful football club in European and World football. They cannot be in Nigeria for a tournament and the whole country has no idea of it. That's how laughable Mr Akingboju's claims are.'

The group noted that the self acclaimed Chief Security Officer of Ondo State Football Association and chairman of Irele Local Football Council, Akingboju hasn't ensured security at games venues.

"He should be ashamed of himself, being that Sunshine Stars have been punished and banned several times over stadium violence, yet he claims to be a football security expert".
