You Are An Incorrigible Liar, NFF President Debunks Claims Of None Payment Of Peseiro's Salaries

Akinkunle Bolarinwa

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau has debunked an online newspaper report that Peseiro’s salary was not paid all this while because the NFF insisted on the salary being paid first into the NFF’s account before the coach can be paid.

“There is no truth in that publication because the sports ministry did not at any time ask the NFF to furnish it with Peseiro’s account details. Why would he do such a thing? The coach is aware of the true situation and it is contrary to that report, ” Gusau explained.

He stated further that he demanded for the contract of Jose Peseiro immediately he resumed as the NFF president to ensure prompt payment of the Portuguese Salaries and entitlements.

“When I assumed office as President of the NFF, I demanded to see Peseiro’s contract and the approval by the Federal Government agreeing to pay the coach’s salary. But to my utter dismay, there was no approval. I was made to understand that the approval was verbal".

Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau said the Honourable Minister of Sports, Chief Sunday Dare was also surprised to know that the coach was not paid for a long while.

“This also surprised the Sports Minister who asked us to write to get the approval, this we have done since last year.

He concluded by saying that the NFF will continue to dialogue with the ministry of sports while waiting for the approval of Jose Peseiro's salaries.

"We are still waiting for the approval and subsequent payment of the salary of the Super Eagles’ coach".

States Football Associations Should Adopt the Ekiti FA Model - Dr. Babatunde 'Tee' Akinbinu

Akinkunle Bolarinwa  Executive Board Member of the Ondo State Football Association, Dr. Babatunde 'Tee' Akinbinu has advised State Football Associations Chairmen in Nigeria to borrow the template for football development exemplified by Ekiti State Football Association in the last three and half years. "The reason why Ekiti State FA works and looks so beautiful is because Mr Bayo Lanlege the Ekiti FA chairman threw his hat in the ring and is leading from the front on matters of football development in Ekiti State without any subvention funding from the Government of Ekiti State." The sagacious Sports Physician asserts that Nigeria needs pragmatic leadership to lead the new path for football development.  "It is a huge irony that I am in Ondo and he is in Ekiti, really. If we had 30 State FA Chairmen in Nigeria like Mr Lanlege of the Ekiti State FA, out of the 37 State FA Chairmen we have in Nigeria, we would NOT be talking about bad governance in football admini...
