Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi is renowned as one of Nigeria’s foremost Finance, Insolvency, Debt and Business Recovery & Reconstruction Lawyers. 


He has vast experience in litigation as well as in negotiation, restructuring and documentation of simple as well as complex syndicated and securitised loans for local and international joint ventures, projects, banks, and businesses. 


He has tremendous experience in high profile local and cross-border insolvency matters and has acted as liquidator, receiver and turn around manager in various cases relating to the recovery of delinquent loans and asset tracing.


He has written various articles on securitisation, Insolvency, business and loan restructuring. 


He contributes to international intellectual work such as the Bankruptcy chapter in the World Bank’s Doing Business Series, the Restructuring Review by the World Bank and World Justice Project’s Rule of Law Index. As President of the Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria, he hosted the first ever Insol Africa Round Table.


Seyi has other passions which include poetry, music, sports and in particular football and therefore practices the law relating to these passions which traverse Media, Sports and Entertainment Law. 


He has acted as counsel for the biggest television stations, production studios, events, entertainment businesses and artists, as well as for various sports associations, sports businesses and athletes in Nigeria. 


He is a member of the Confederation for African Football Committee on Youth Competitions, the former 1st Vice President of the Nigerian Football Federation and also as the former Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association he hosted Soccerex Lagos, the biggest Business of Sports seminar in Nigeria.
