Katsina United FC In Crisis As New Commissioner Set To Name Substantive Board

All is not well with Katsina United Football Club as the newly appointed commissioner for sports, Yusuf Rabiu-Jirdede has inherited a deep crisis that may send the club back to relegation.

According to reports monitored from the state over the weekend, the new commissioner is said to be unhappy with the way and manner the club has been managed by the estranged interim board led by Alhaji Kabir Dan'lami Rimi.

It was alleged that the crisis created by the interim management board has painted the club and the state in bad light and further put the state in disrepute.

It was said that the governor of Katsina state, Malam Umar Dikko Radda is angry after going through the reports of the investigative panel set up to look into the involvement of the immediate past commissioner of sports in the whole saga.

The panel indicted the former sports commissioner, Hon. Abdu Abu Dan Kum and the interim management board of Katsina United for being complicit in the mismanagement of the affairs of the club in the last three months.

The investigative panel stated in its reports that the former commissioner of sports has no power and lack the jurisdiction to sack a board constituted and approved by the state governor.

It further stated that, the interim board of Katsina United was unprofessional in relieving Coach Tope Bolus of his contact without due consultation and approval from the state government.

The investigative panel also blame the Interim board and the former sports commissioner for plunging the club into an unecesarry chaotic crisis.

Katsina United have not performed excellently well in the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League since the interim management took over, just two steps ahead of the relegation waters with 17 points amassed from 13 games.

It is likely that the governor of Katsina State has directed that the new commissioner should reinstate the board of Alhaji Surajo Baba Malumfashi as the substantive chairman of the club in a bid to avert further unwarranted controversy.

Recently, Katsina United FC has been in the news for going against the personnel and administrative criteria of the NFF club licensing regulations and for improper dressing during one of its NPFL game.
