The True Story: Idoko joins Heartland FC mgt team, GM Nwachukwu extols Gov Uzodimma for appointment

The Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma has approved the appointment of seasoned football administrator per excellence Mike Udoko to join the Heartland Management team bearing in mind his wealth of experience, to help pilot the position of the team away from the NPFL drop zone, the statesman newspaper sports desk can exclusively report.

As opposed to the unofficial report trending on the social media which states that Idoko is in Heartland to replace the current General Manager Promise Nwachukwu, this rumours according to our investigation has been found as untrue.

Mike Idoko was a former footballer during his youthful days and played for BCC lions but was more prominent as a football administrator.

Idoko was former GM of Warri wolves, Sunshine stars and Lobi Stars. His appointment was timely at the heat of the Heartland FC dwindling fortunes and his wealth of experience will come in handy as the resurgent Heartland FC will look to fight their way out of the drop zone.

The General Manager Promise Nwachukwu has showered encomiums on Governor Uzodimma for approving the addition of experienced Mike Idoko to the team and sees it as a welcomed development taking cognizance of his wealth of experience and good managerial skills.

In his exact words during a phone conversation, Nwachukwu told the Statesman newspaper;

“I sincerely appreciate his Excellency the Governor of Imo state, Gov Hope Uzodimma for approving the appointment of Mike Idoko into the team. It is truely a welcomed addition to the crew, this really shows that the Governor is really interested and cares alot about Heartland and that is a good sign. It is not every Governor that has interest in football but our Governor loves Heartland and he wants this team to do well.

Mike Idoko is one of my mentors and a good friend, his addition is a plus to all of us. He has not come to take anybody’s job but to support us with his administrative skills bearing in mind his wealth of experience.

His pot-folio has not not been revealed yet or made official for now but soon we will make an official announcement to the public.” Nwachukwu told the Statesman newspaper correspondent.

When asked about the rumours making the rounds on social media  on the new take over of Heartland FC, Nwachukwu replied;

“I was alarmed myself when i started getting calls from everywhere but that must have been the hand work of mischief makers .

Mike Idoko is a senior in this business and has come to help the team and we are doing our best to help him settle in very fast. He was with us at Kastina and now he is with us at Awka ahead of our mid week match against Abia warriors.

For now the focus is on getting us out of relegation and not paying attention to trending rumours. Idoko is here to work with us and his addition is a plus to us. An official announcement will be made soon.” Nwachukwu concluded.

Heartland FC were denied a win in Kastina after the center refree awarded a dubious penalty to aid Kastina United find the leveler in the 90+6 minutes despite the 5 minutes added time.

Propel sports tripped off the live streaming just before the dubious penalty but another video from an individual circulating the media platforms which captured the exact situation, revealed how the penalty was awarded.

Heartland will now lick their wounds as they prepare to battle Abia Warriors in a pulsating NPFL Oriental Derby on Wednesday at their adopted home ground, Awka City Stadium.

States Football Associations Should Adopt the Ekiti FA Model - Dr. Babatunde 'Tee' Akinbinu

  Akinkunle Bolarinwa  Executive Board Member of the Ondo State Football Association, Dr. Babatunde 'Tee' Akinbinu has advised State Football Associations Chairmen in Nigeria to borrow the template for football development exemplified by Ekiti State Football Association in the last three and half years. "The reason why Ekiti State FA works and looks so beautiful is because Mr Bayo Lanlege the Ekiti FA chairman threw his hat in the ring and is leading from the front on matters of football development in Ekiti State without any subvention funding from the Government of Ekiti State." The sagacious Sports Physician asserts that Nigeria needs pragmatic leadership to lead the new path for football development.  "It is a huge irony that I am in Ondo and he is in Ekiti, really. If we had 30 State FA Chairmen in Nigeria like Mr Lanlege of the Ekiti State FA, out of the 37 State FA Chairmen we have in Nigeria, we would NOT be talking about bad governance in football admini...
